Job Description

Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Job Overview:

This opportunity is with a well-established engineering consulting firm looking to add a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to their growing Texas team. In this role, you will lead the design and analysis of fire and life safety systems across a diverse mix of projects including commercial & government buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial sites. The position blends hands-on engineering design with consulting and client advisory work, allowing you to influence fire protection strategies, ensure code compliance, and develop performance-based safety solutions. You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams while also serving as a technical resource to clients, building owners, and regulatory authorities. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys technical leadership, complex problem solving, and working on large, high-impact projects with a nationally recognized engineering team. There will be growth potential in this role by helping expand the department team and eventually moving into a management position.

Preferred Locations:

This is a hybrid role based in Texas (Houston, Dallas, or Austin), ideally for someone who is local to the region or has ties to Texas. However, candidates outside of these areas are still encouraged to apply, as we can check whether the company has another suitable office location closer to you.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelors in Engineering degree with Professional Engineer (PE) license, ideally in Fire Protection Engineering
  • 9+ years of experience in fire protection engineering design or consulting
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA, ICC, and building/fire codes with experience designing fire suppression and alarm systems
