We are seeking an experienced and hospitality-driven Bar Manager to lead the bar program at our New York City restaurant and lounge. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong operational skills and a passion for cocktails, wine, and guest experience.
The Bar Manager will oversee all aspects of bar operations—from service standards and inventory management to staff leadership and program development. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains high standards of hospitality, and is committed to building a strong, professional bar team.
Key Responsibilities Bar OperationsOversee daily bar operations including service flow, guest experience, and bar team performance
Lead bartenders and barbacks during service with a hands-on presence on the floor
Maintain and enforce bar service standards, policies, and procedures
Ensure consistent quality and presentation across the cocktail, wine, and beverage program
Manage the restaurant’s wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail programs
Monitor inventory levels and oversee ordering while maintaining budget targets
Develop and refine cocktail offerings in collaboration with ownership and management
Maintain strong vendor relationships and stay current with beverage trends
Hire, train, and mentor bartenders and bar support staff
Create staff schedules and assist with payroll oversight and time edits
Provide ongoing training on cocktails, spirits, service standards, and guest engagement
Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
Maintain POS systems and bar-related administrative documentation
Ensure compliance with Department of Health standards and maintain consistent “ A” grade operations
Support HR documentation and operational record keeping as needed
2–4+ years of experience as a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, or Lead Bartender
Strong experience working in New York City restaurant or lounge environments
Proven leadership ability and experience managing bar teams
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Deep knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and bar operations
Proficiency with POS systems and restaurant management software
Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Experience
Front-of-house experience in multiple restaurant roles is a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume bar environment
